More The Thing

In the first panel a person says "Looks like you're feeling more the thing!" And cartoon-me says "How did you know?" In the next panel cartoon-me has turning into a towering, dripping, multi-headed monster, a la 'the thing'.

*********************************

One time after hardly sleeping for many, many days and nights (ah, the heady days of chronic insomnia plus university assignments and poor time management), I decided on a whim that The Thing (the 80s one) was absolutely, unbeatably amazing. As I was pretty much delirious from exhaustion, I figured it was completely reasonable to force the friends I just happened to be with at the time to watch it. Even though it wasn’t their sort of thing at all. Even though they told me this. Repeatedly.

I fell asleep a few minutes in, and they sat next to my unconscious body through over and hour and a half of dripping vagina monsters out of politeness.

They’re still my friends. I don’t know why.

(That story doesn’t have anything to do with anything, not even this comic. But it’s true.)

Hi Lucy. The Thing was one of my favorites too. A friend of mine was in the Antarctic for the winter at a research station and it was one of the in house videos. He recommended it to me. Dad.

I watched it with you first, and that’s when I decided I liked it and had to tell the world.

      (P.S. You’re using your website! :D )

I have no idea what’s going on here, but I’m living for your You/Thing in all its drooly glory.

As long as you *are* here I’m doing my job. Confusion is an acceptable side-effect.

I love The Thing. I definitely know a lot of people who are like your friends and it’s such a funny dynamic when I talk about horror movies and they are like “Oh no! Too scary!”

I liked horror movies a lot more before I realised how powerless we are in a uncaring world and, actually, death/destruction could happen to anyone at any point (sudden terminal cancer, decapitation via car accident, random serial killer encounter) and it wouldn’t matter if we were good people or clever people, there would be nothing we could do about it. Now sometimes the movies actually do scare me.

I just recently saw the newest The Thing. The monster went from being a “vegetable” type critter (60s movie & 1980) to a kind of shape-shifter spider-worm with parts of it truly resembling ‘Thing’ from The Addams Family. 🤔

I have not seen the most recent one. I really should.

I love that movie. I think MacReady looks very cool with that hat.

Any story that has the words “dripping vagina monsters” in it is a good story! LOL!
